Batbox is a social and tech-infused baseball "eatertainment" concept that combines hospitality, sports, and an immersive baseball experience. The company's first U.S. venue is set to debut in Addison, Texas, in early 2025. It will feature 10 baseball simulators and a 13,000 sq ft sports bar, catering to a broad audience—from baseball enthusiasts and casual players to families and corporate teams—seeking engaging and social experiences that go beyond traditional restaurants or sports venues.

Batbox is revolutionizing the baseball entertainment industry with their innovative batting simulator venues. However, they faced several critical challenges in creating a cohesive digital experience:

  • Fragmented Systems: Multiple disconnected platforms (SevenRooms, Toast, Strikezon) created operational inefficiencies and a disjointed user experience.
  • Generic Booking Experience: While Sevenrooms is a world class booking platform, the user experience is generic and wasn't delivering the premium, branded experience that Batbox customers expect.
  • Complex Venue Management: Staff would need to juggle multiple systems for managing bookings, simulators, and customer data.
  • Limited Data Insights: No unified way to analyze performance metrics across venues and systems.
  • Customer Engagement: Lack of tools to drive competition and engagement through rankings and leaderboards.

Our journey with Batbox began with a fundamental challenge: creating a digital ecosystem that would match the innovation of their physical experience.

We first needed to build a cloud infrastructure along with key integrations which allowed a much more seamless user journey for Batbox customers and which unlocks completely new functionality possibilites. Once set up, we can integrate Takoha with StrikeZon, Sevenrooms, Semnox, creating a foundation that could support Batbox's ambitious vision across the first and future venues.

With direct access to the simulator kiosks, we can make significant UX upgrades that leverage the integrations with both Semnox and Sevenrooms. Now when users make an online booking, they can receive a PIN number for autonomous access to the simulator or can simply tap their RFID membership card on a reader. This seemingly simple feature eliminates the need for staff intervention and creates a smoother experience for customers from the moment they walk in.

All the data from the simulator games is retrieved from the system and associated with Batbox users' accounts, becoming part of a wider gamification system. This means every swing, every hit, and every score contributes to the player's history and ranking. Players can track their progress over time, compete with friends, and participate in venue-wide competitions.

The real magic happens in the mission control center we are developing for Batbox staff. What would otherwise be a juggling act between different systems and screens has been transformed into a single, intuitive interface. Staff can now see real-time simulator status, manage bookings, and monitor player sessions all from one place.

Looking to the future, the infrastructure we've built opens up exciting possibilities. The platform can easily scale to support multiple venues, each maintaining its unique character while being part of the larger Batbox ecosystem. New features can be rolled out simultaneously across all locations, and cross-venue tournaments become not just possible, but simple to organize.

What makes this project special is how it transforms Batbox from a collection of batting simulators into a connected, engaging entertainment experience. Whether you're a casual player coming in for fun with friends, or a serious baseball enthusiast working on your technique, the system adapts to provide exactly what you need.

The real measure of success isn't just in the technical achievements, but in how invisible the technology becomes. Customers don't see the complex integrations or data processing happening behind the scenes – they just know that everything works smoothly, from booking their session to reviewing their stats afterwards.

This is just the beginning of the Batbox journey. As they continue to grow and evolve, the digital ecosystem we've built will grow with them, supporting new features, new venues, and new ways to experience the great game of baseball.
